I'm pretty sure that blocking diodes allow *some* current to pass through as well..

they do mate

Enough to activate a pair of relays?

enough to drain your battery coz the circuit would be permenantly drawing power

how can the single switch perform 2 actions thought is on or off what you seem to be proposing is that the off position is going to preform an action

why reinvent the wheel you are going to end up with a dangerous mess of wiring just to make a window do what can be done properly with the right swith is all this worth the hasstle

got any pics of the switch and is it on/off or on/off/on

The switch is mom/off/mom - so effectively up/off/down.  There'd be no current flow in the off position, so flat battery won't occur.

The other problem I have is that the motors can draw up to 30A, and most switches won't handle that - another reason to use relays in the circuit.

so its not single pole and is the same as a gm switch so whats the problem just wire as per normal and run through a relay you dont need 3 or diodes

wire it like titsy's diagram and add a relay to route the window power

OK... if you really must use a single pole switch and relays, this is the circuit you need... no diodes required...

Excellent, thanks Titsy. Not only have you solved the design problem, you've saved me a few quid on components too

Now to work the wiring for the lock solenoids.
