Time to sell the Z28 ?
« on: May 31, 2006, 01:23:58 pm »
Having spent the whole day detailing the Z28 I'm begining to think the unthinkable ?
It's getting increasingly hard to keep her in 95% tip top condition

The bonnet is approaching respray time and there are a couple of other areas which could benefit from a little spray.
The leather is starting to look worn on the drivers seat and I can't source the plastic seat runner trim ?
I've spent the last few weeks trying to source replacement under bonnet stickers without success , three main reasons for the parts problems.

1 / It was made in Canada and the plant shut in 2002.

2 / Total model year build was only about 28,000 with about 2,300 Euro Spec models.

3 / It's still too new to appear in the classic ranges like the 1st , 2nd & 3rd Gens.

I really don't want "her" to become just another used 4th Gen , but can't really justify spending thousands to bring her back to A1 condition.

Dude.

That's serious.

Do you really need her to be A1 ?

All cars get old eventually, yours is still the neatest Z28 I know.

As long as you still enjoy driving her I don't see a major problem . . . especially when she's mechanically A1.

. . Or if you have to have "A1" do you go for another new motor ?

I'd go for the first gen myself.

A 1st gen is number 2 on my shopping list becuase they are too bland IMO, a 71' 2nd Gen Z28 is at the top of the F Body list.
Still have this strong hankering for a pickup truck , but they are just stupid money
Having said that I've just seen an SRT-10 crew cab 04 with 5,000 miles go for £26,000 that's cheap !!!

Edit : Inc VAT.

definatly not boring

No what I said was "bland" which that one certainly isn't
Me thinks that is going to go for a lot more than $16,000 ?
Pickups in general just seem over priced , having driven a stock 56 Chevy 3 speed they is no way in hell I'd have a standard one.
Anything decent is up to £15K , chuck in a decent motor and some rodding and £20K comes knocking on the door.
Seen some real dogs for £10K

I've seen some Beasts go on ebay .com for what we'd consider stupidly low prices.
They can build them so much cheaper then we can . . . . . It's irritating, really.
