Attention now turned towards the Camaro . . .
« on: June 27, 2006, 10:01:35 am »
O.K.

With the Caddy's year almost to a close (she's certainly clocked up more miles then I'd expected) - Having only a possible dyno day, a possible MoPar 'Nats and one or two meets left - I'm now beginning to think "Let's get the Camaro sorted".

The bits I'm looking to order (very soon) are :

Complete suspension rebuild Kit -
(Lowering springs, shocks, poly-bush kit and new sway bars)

Adjustable Panhard Arm
(Possibly Lakewood but haven't decided yet)

New front rotors (Grooved & Vented) and pads (already has new calipers)

Complete brake line replacement !
(For obvious reasons)

---------------------------------

The traction Bar kit I've decided not to put on - (Mine is a weld-on kit and now they do ones which just bolt-on so I'll buy these when I upgrade the motor . . . ) - Instead this'll be put up for sale to clear space in the garage.

---------------------------------

Interior parts I've almost got - these are being brought bit by bit . . . .
The interior is fine, some bits need putting back on and it needs a clean.
The main bits I'm missing are just the odd clip here and there - to be ordered next month . .
Headlining I'll probably re-do, again, early next year.

---------------------------------

Under the hood - I'm waiting on a shipment for the washer bottle that I'm missing - then it should be "complete" under there.
Just want to "cap off" where the heater used to go . . . .
Need to acquire a fuel gauge to check the regulator.

---------------------------------

Generally.

There's some wiring that need removing and some minor issues here and there . . . .
New number plates need to go on.

Would like new (foglight ?) lenses as mine are cracked or smashed.

---------------------------------

Gearbox.

I have a quote for £405 to recon the 'box . . . . . This'll be moving up the to do list VERY soon.

---------------------------------

Body work.

After chatting to my brother I'm seriously considering a full respray . . . . . . and as the condition of the car is very good - I'm thinking black.

.
.
.
.
.

The first step is to call Jegs for a shipping quote which I intend to do tonight.

The thing practicly flew when I first got her . . . . alas the heavy acceleration in second to get her to fourth isn't helping the worn out lump . .

Just remembered - I have a prop loop which may as well go on, too, as it's not worth selling . . . .

is it likely to hurt ground clearance? dont wanna catch that bugger on a speed bump..

it is nothing more than un nesicary weight... i'd sell it TBH..

I'll check first, obviously.

At the moment - I'm not too bothered . . . But if I get a High powered 350ci - I'd feel better with a loop . . . Plus it takes up very little space in the garage so I might just hang on to it . . .

the rear will give before the prop mate.... never heard of a stock prop failing on a thirdgen, with a stock rear

I'm not sure it is a stock prop . . . . it's certainly doesn't look as old as the rest of the car . . .

Ahh, Also.

I need to fab an exhaust . . . . I think I'll give Jetex a call.

(I'm going mild steel for now to create a pattern - to see if my idea works - if it does in a year or so I'll upgrade to Stainless.)

have fun!!!

i've only ever seen two exhausts that dont follow the stock routing.. nether car had ANY ground clearnace to speak of...

i swear that they forgot the exhaust when designing the car, and just had to stuff one wherever they could....

I reckon so, almost definately.

It's certainly the lightest prop I've handled - by far.

How rare are these things ? and what's the weight saving ?

uhhh.. they aren't common, but since the LS1 ally prop fits too, not especialy valuable.. before the LS1, they were worth uber money (its part of the 1LE package.)

its not specificly about saving weight, but the lighter prop has less inertia, so spins up quicker, improving peformance..

Yeah, well I was supposed to call Jegs as well but I got carried away working on the "Paperweight".

(Which, BTW is very close to *effective* completion, now)

Wouldn't want to think how much the paperweight has cost in money alone (time aside).

Still it'll certainly be unique.
