You need to t-cut where the join is going to be but unless you have the proper paint etc you will always see the join.

That's what caused the problem. It was OK unitl I started cutting it, and it just got worse the more I tried.
The T-cut made the original paint much brighter.

So did you get paint to match your nice shiney paint or to match dirty paint, If your going to match a join it has to be spotless to start with,Also the join has to be fogged in and not polished as it will make it worse as you have found out.
