IF anyone (except me) is into Rock n' Roll this could be a very good way of meeting potential new members in the area.

At £7 a pop It'd be well worth it.

I was also thinking of popping over to a few other RnR venues in the area . . . There's plenty of Motors go to places like that - I know I've been one of them.

problem is, most of em have the cars as an accessory to the lifesyle, outside the rock n oll era, they have little interest..

i used to frequent the thunderbird in wellingborough, and king creole in letchworth, so its nothing unusual to me....

i dont think i'm awfully keen on fliering - i'm cirtain the typical audience at these clubs wont be into the MKB thing, as they are rather older than our core demographic..

there is 1,000,001 clubs for r'n'r and 50's, we have suceded in breaking the check shirt and brylcream image that has horribly dogged the scene for so long, and i'm not at all keen on surrendering that..

i have no problem with R'n'R but i honestly dont think we are going to recruit people like us at these clubs..

if you wanna make an occasional trip out there though, we can, although i refuse to make any consession whatsoever to 50's dress!!!

I've always stuck out a bit at these things, too (long hair) - but as long as you ain't acting like a complete dick you get on fine.

Some are a little hardcore - the trick with them is not to give a F*ck.

Sometimes it gets you into trouble but normally they realise you're there for a genuine reason so that's cool . . . .

If you mean people that are into Hot Rods/Kustoms/American Cars, then you will probably be surprised to find that a lot of us that go to this club are very much into cars and the show scene (i.e. Billing, NSRA Supernats, NASC Nationals, Shakey Raceway) we are always out and about during the show season. We attend all the AACI shows at Billing. I've been doing the hot rod scene for 25 years (1st show when I was 9 weeks old!! so my parents tell me) I'm with a club you may have heard of, there's always a good turn out of us at Billing - "Blacktop Roadsters"

If you've been around the car scene a few year then you may have also heard of my other half Porky - Dog Squad.

The Rock n Roll club every month makes the winters seem shorter. And if you come to the club you will be surprised to see that there is a mixture of ages, ranging from 18 - 65.

As with the cars, we've got a 75 Blazer (fully convertible), my dad's got a 1958 Chevy Fleetside (you may have seen this in the January Custom Car), Sister has a 58 Edsel, father in law has a 1959 dodge custom royal,

So please don't tar us all with the same brush!!

They're in the afternoon from 1.30pm at the mo' - plenty of time to sober up . . . . besides we're there for a good few hours . . .
