Because it makes a shit load more power than your LT1 and the LS1 with a smaller displacment for a start. Also its already been designed to run a forced induction. And at the price it is you would struggle to buy a basic 350 SBC

***EDIT***

It bolts up to a 4T80E trans and seeing as you need a new trans anyways it really would be a perfect transplant

Add on a huge wad of shipping and tax, plus the odds and ends to make it work and it's not cheap.

shipping will be £300 door to door, and its a complete motor, only missing A/C and alt which are generic GM parts and already on the car.

I thought we'd worked out shipping to be around £600 once you've added on all the various charges etc . . .

Hell if shipping's only £300 I'd have one just as a spare for a future project !

Because it makes a shit load more power than your LT1 and the

it makes 50HP more than my LT1, and 25ft.lbs less torque... it wouldn't touch an LS1... But it seems like quite a lot of butchering for less torque and marginal HP gains...

a sniff of gas could give you back the marginal 50hp for a lot less

It's making peak HP at 6,500rpm though which is a lot higher than the LT1 I iirc?

Thus due to gearing if a stock or near stock LT1 maro pulled up at the Pod next to one fitted with this engine my money would be on the Aurora.

But yes, it is a lot of hacking around and not worth it if you already have an LT1 in a car.

Would be a lot better on fuel too...

Personaly i would take this motor over a rebuilt LT1 which is what titsy will need if he goes with forced induction. As it currently stands this motor would out perform the ageing LT1 in his car for a lot less than trying to freshen up his current motor.

Just ring around for a rebore in the UK and your gonna be 4-500 notes then add on the cost of pistons, gaskets etc and your going to be more than a brand new shelby aurora and this is a shelby motor.

Hey personaly i couldnt care less what he does its just an idea for a better motor in my opinion. I would take a quad cam every day over an old pushrod design dating back 50 years.

Your talking about refitting the entire engine bay and electronic control system, that's going to be a MAJOR PITA! you have numourous control systems that were highly intergrated but no longer work together... It would be a complete Frankenstein electrically and mechanically. It may be a modern, well designed, lightweight and very cheap engine, but this isn't a carb project your taking here where you can drop any lump into any car so long as it fits.... This is dropping an entirely alien lump and accossiated sytems into a car that was never designed to take it... IMHO it would fast turn into a money pit with all the issues that are created by the mismatch of systems...

Undoubtedly it is the better engine, and while they are providing the ecu and all the electrical gubbins it's still gonna be a lot of work rewiring the engine bay and so on.  Then again pulling the existing engine and squeezing in the forced induction stuff and so on is also a big job really and as you say money will need to be spent.

Titsy is right though, it's gonna be more work than the LT1, although I suspect it will end up costing the same in terms of cash.

The Aurora is the better motor and it won't cost any more (probably) but it will take a lot more time and fab work.

You seem to have missed the context Rob... G-Unit was on about converting to this engine to improve performance.... There is nothing wrong with my engine... It certainly has enough grunt in it to break my trans regularly enough...

Yeh, I know.

What I meant was there becomes a point where its just not worth throwing money at a car.
