An under the carb plate does seem the simple option . . . Pain in the arse about the bottle . . . especially when Yank standards are normally higher then EU standards . . .

Brussels.

they wont fill a bottle if it doesnt have the EU stamp on it mate, just in case the bottle failed they would be liable. The same as its technicaly ilegal to sell non DOT approved tyres, if you had an accident the insurance company could refuse to pay out and your liable as your not insured

ahh... doesn't the loophole bout meeting equivelant standards apply?

i know its legal to use a simpson bandit helmet on the road in the UK, despite  not being EU apprived, because they meet the american SNELL 90 standard..

are N.O.S. bottles EU approved?

I thought some of the Simpson helmets were still illegal due to the smaller visor size.

SNELL 90

SNELL 90 - that's well out of date

no, that was the conception, but the EU rules on bike helmets state they are ok (but not to be sold) if they meet an equivlent standard..

you need to import it yourself, or buy it for 'off road use'
