Until Vista has been around a bit longer I'd go for XP.

Isn't Microsoft already working on Vista's replacement ?

That shows confidence, that.

Let me look into my crystal balls

I predict the new OS will have some kind of auto backup called timeslice

some kind of file preview when you mouse over a file

parental controls and a host of other new items

Win XP

Hmm yeah after what i read this morning thats what i'm thinking... + its makes the PC bill about £140 cheaper because I:

a) Don't have to buy vista
b) Don't have to buy a new keyboard because ideazon who make my Zboard have vanished off the face of the earth and there's no vista support so I don't have to buy a new gaming keyboard

I have vista on my lappy, its OK if its set up right and it makes networking very easy..  I can easialy link to my gfs mac through to her printer.  The rest of vista isnt much to jizz over though.

lets go back a few years.

win 2k released around the same time as ME then a couple of years later XP was released.  WinME was a virus masquerading as a OS so VISTA is the same considering the next OS time line.

Vista was not tested properly with the security issues, in our company we have only 1 printer that works with vista and 3 applications out of 20 how the fook are we to afford to upgrade?

oh nearly forgot

Yes DX10 is for vista only.

I nearly went for Vista 64 when I upgraded, but then sent it back after hearing that BF2 doesn't work with it.

But after the LANFEST I've changed my mind, 2 peeps had vista (32) on their PC's and all the games ran perfectly.  And both said they have had no problems at all with the OS.

So once I've got the £56 spare I'll probably buy it. though I will keep XP on the other HDD.
