The last tax disc in the window and the daily mail on the back seat pointed towards this little lovely not seeing the light of day since 1994.

I couldn't turn my back on her........

Let's hope the chassis and engine are in better nick than the 1980 Trans Am I bought

NB : The one that Starchief & Fieldy ended up scrapping

Good luck!!

Haven't decided what I'm doing with it yet.

It really depends on whether the engine is OK and if it is a Y81 (1 of 549 built).

No buildsheet in the usual place behind the back seat but it has almost all the correct features of the Y81.

I know it is the W72 6.6 400ci but the cowl tag is missing and with no build sheet I can only prove it with a PHS report.

Looks a good starting point.

Remember what you see on the VW side of stuff I post on here - anything is repairable - and that doesn't look too bad to start with!
1968 VW T2 Bay Bus (currently being restored and upgraded)
1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ (modern classic daily driver)

Was asked by a colleague to go and look at a car for him in Hemel.  He was sorting out a will for a recently departed gentleman patient of his wife who is a nurse.  It had come up in a conversation with relatives about an american car being in a garage for years untouched.

You can imagine my face when we opened the door and this little beauty was stood there.

The guy who did the house clearance offered him £200 to "drag it out and get rid of it"

Are there any records of AACI members from that far back Art...?, as there was evidence of membership etc in the car.   Might help me with trying to figure out more details about her....

Check under the carpet, underneath the rear deck tray and on top of the fuel tank - they are the other places these have been found.

AACI didn't exist in 1994, it came into being about late 2001 ish / early 2002, (i went to the last  AAC UK committee meeting with captain tune at the helm in my Camaro in 2001), so it must have been after that. (in fact that was the day Twatty tune walked out, taking half the room with him mid meeting)

I also remember the debacle with tune and 'captin' Roger? Wilson trying to sue each other over the use of the name AACI  - oh such great fun....

But I digress. the AACI documentation will likely be in the 2002 - 2008 age range.

Oh, and not of much value, but that reg number does look awfully familiar.

You might want to try Mark Ashman, he was a mogul of all things Trans Am related, and well versed in the yanks between London and Bedford back in the day. I'm pretty sure that car came to a few of the ouse valley meets at priory marina back when I had my cutlass (99 - 2001).. it may not be that car, but its so familiar..

Thanks Phil..... The window sticker etc had "American Auto Club" on them so I naturally assumed it was AACI but it may have been a predecessor.

Its definately not been on the road since 94' though. DVLA list it as not being taxed since 08/94. That corresponds with the discs I found in the car.

Nice find i guess thats the car you wanted moving.

Only two reasons to remove a cowl tag, during a full resto or to put on another car to make it appear something its not

And check under the front seats for the build sheet, and also under the carpet
