Here you go, Martyn - PROOF !

New air filter (old one shown plus dead flies)

New Dizzy cap and rotor arm . . . and platinum plugs and leads.

Even brought some "shiny things" - Well a warm air tube for the air filter housing.

Couldn't do the oil / trans fluid and filters change as I didn't have any money for the new oil.

After payday, though.

Didn't get the new headlight switch in either as I ran out of daylight . . .

That new air filter has gotta add a few MPG

Now you did actually do this "servicing" yourself

Hard to tell - I haven't taken it for a run . . But I'm guessing cold starts'll be better.

Tick over sounded more even, though.

Rode a bit smoother today . . . hasn't done any harm, anyway.

Electrics still crap, though.

Cool.  I'm a happy man.

Me and Philo started late but we flushed the motor and got the oil and filer changed today.  Then did the trans fluid and filter too.

Note at this point this is THE most thorough service I have EVER done to ANY car.

Everything's been done ! (as far as I'm concerned).

It got dark, but she just needs fluid levels checking and a top-up which I'll do tomorrow.

All good.

No photos, though - I've got a witness instead.

Cheers to Philo for assistance - and as always to Carl for supply and logistics.

Philo also noticed a crack in one of the water pipes near the heater box which I'll need to sort very soon . . . Nothing major - should be able to trim 3/4" off back to fresh and refit.

Can't understand how you can pull an engine or gearbox out etc but don't do basic servicing

When the 305ci came out I didn't do the plugs or leads or dizzy cap etc.

The gaskets cost nearly £100 from USeless Auto at the time !

The full service, including headlight switch and manual AND shipping for the Eldo was £115 + £30 in oil / flush.

Checked oil earlier . . . The engine should take 5 litres . . I've put 5 in and it still wants more.

And yes I have checked for pools of oil under the car !

Oil looks lovely and clean, though.
