Thought I'd start a separate thread for this as the plan is to keep her for a bit . . .

She's a Canadian import - aay - brought only last week for £445, with 9 months tax and MoT.

PhilO immediately set to polishing the dull orange-peeley paint and checking tyre pressures and generally tidying and setting her up.

She does need mirrors - which we stole off of the Sanya - which i've now just brought replacements for.

She also needs new indicators as the existing ones are dim and work intermittently - I've now just ordered a full set of these, too.

Apart from that she may well need a battery soon but is O.K at the moment.

She handles really well, plenty of torque and smooth at cruising speeds - an absolute ideal commuter.

Pictures to follow later (before she gets too dirty again !!!)

Been giving her some beans on the "H" roads today.

Also watching some side panels in the U.S which I'm missing.

absolute bargain..

you gotta wonder - the vendor said he wasn't confident on it, and had a few slides... not surprised really, seeing as there was 12 psi in the front tyre, 20 psi in the rear, and evedence pointing to the valve caps on the front not having been removed in a VERY long time... (lots of white powdery corrosion siezing it solidly on..)

Well - here they are . . . .

Note that the split in the seat on the right hand side has now been carefully stitched up.

I'm intending on getting the seat recovered professionally as it does let the bike down a bit.

Also note that I have now received the new chrome indicators (front and back) which will be fitted this weekend - getting rid of those nasty, cheap plastic "carbon fibre" ones that are on it at the moment.

Won them both for about £31.

The same seller is apparently selling some other odds and sods I need next week so I'll keep an eye on him . . . .

Just worked out my minimum MPG (all around town / short journies etc . . ) . . . 48.5mpg.

Not bad for a 600cc 23 year old bike - my Jinlun only got mid/late 60's and that was a 125cc !!!

I reckon I could see 60+ on a run.

Sidenotes -

It's costing me approx 67p to get to work and back a day.

It's about FOUR TIMES more economical than the Eldo so it's saving me about £3 per day.

So £445 divided by 3 = 148 working days or 30 working weeks and she's paid for

The box the mirrors were in was damaged and they were returned to sender as my address was unreadable !

The seller has repackaged them and re-posted them . . . should be here wednesday.

Mirrors arrived - I gave them to PhilO for the Sanya as I nicked the ones off of that (they're basically the same).

New indicators fitted . . . to get a true idea of just how sh!t the old ones were look at the pictures above . . .

Thanks to PhilO for doing 80% of the fitting while I was off doing other things . . . . . . . .

Pictures :

Rear, before :

Rear, nice vague fitting hole some idiot had hacked into the rear panel :

Rear all done.  Pimpin' if you ask me - they really suit the line of the bike - even better than the factory originals.
(Note holes covered by in-keeping chrome surrounds under indictor housings - I had these laying around in my roll-cab !)

Front all done - again a vast improvement and - again - better than the factory pieces IMO.
