FUBAR's Model Kits Thread... (PICTURE SIZE WARNING)
« on: January 11, 2010, 08:57:58 pm »
Ok, after finishing this last year:

I'm now working on the next kit:A 1:12 scale '69 Camaro Drag Car. [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v223/ryanbudd/Models/69%20mar%20drag/P1020649.jpg\" border=\"0\"  alt=\"\" width=150>I bought some custom bits for this kit, Extra big Drag wheels for the back, a custom cowl hood and a photo-etched "detail-up" sheet from ebay.  + generally raided my parts box for other stuff.1st Job was to Tub the rear of the car to fit the big wheels in (standard Drag wheels that come with the kit are there for comparison) [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v223/ryanbudd/Models/69%20mar%20drag/11-01-10Tubbed.jpg\" border=\"0\"  alt=\"\" width=150>_ [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v223/ryanbudd/Models/69%20mar%20drag/11-01-10Tubbedwithwheels.jpg\" border=\"0\"  alt=\"\" width=150>_ [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v223/ryanbudd/Models/69%20mar%20drag/11-01-10wheelcomparison.jpg\" border=\"0\"  alt=\"\" width=150>You can see in the first pic where I have filled the gap with plastic plates & putty... not greatly as its the first time i've used the putty stuff so did my best + most of it is hidden by the huge wheels anyway.Engine etc is still WIP, the roll cage (From the '57 chevy kit) has been modified to fit the camaro & the Fire extinguisher changed to a NOS bottle (decals still to be applied) [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v223/ryanbudd/Models/69%20mar%20drag/11-01-10EngineRollcage.jpg\" border=\"0\"  alt=\"\" width=150>Body wise its still not started, it will still need the rear arches modifying slightly to fit the wheels under but finishing the outside will be a big job... [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v223/ryanbudd/Models/69%20mar%20drag/11-01-10Interiorbody.jpg\" border=\"0\"  alt=\"\" width=150>_ [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v223/ryanbudd/Models/69%20mar%20drag/11-01-10Cowl.jpg\" border=\"0\"  alt=\"\" width=150>This is the paint scheme i'm looking to copy, curtoesy of EA's Motor City Online.[img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v223/ryanbudd/Models/69%20mar%20drag/67camdec.jpg" alt="" border="0" onload="NcodeImageResizer.createOn(this);" class="bbc_img" />
[img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v223/ryanbudd/Models/MCOLogo.jpg\" border=\"0\"  alt=\"\" width=150>

Still LOTS to do.

Question...

On a 69 Camaro are the 2 lower lights that I would have called Fog lights actually indicators?

Nobody know?

If they're not indicators where are they on the front of the car?

They're called Parking lights, but did also function as turn signals too.

Anyone interested in an update?
Engine is getting there...   (Its a 427 because i'm building the kit as a Yenko)

[imgs]http://www.stencilsandstripes.com/images/Chevy_Camaro/yenko_427.gif]/imgs]

Its now sat on its wheels:

Not much change to the interior except for the fact that my Inkjet waterslide Decal paper arrived so I was able to make the custom decals for the NOS bottle & "No restrictive clothing" Warning for the passenger side

The main reason for the interior waiting is I need the plastic from the Kit Sprues to finish building the Rollcage
But the Racing Harness kits have now also arrived

Are you putting in pipework and solenoids on the engine?

i'll have to see. I haven't looked for a reference pic yet to copy
the engine will be getting ignition, fuel & coolant pipes as a minimum though.
+ Brake lines.

Just thought i'd put a pic on this seeing as i've actually made some progress recently...

The hood will be red as well (because despite efforts it still looked pink through the white when compared to the rest of the body)

I had to go with a scoop on the hood instead of the original cowl hood as the Supercharger & Carbs didn't fit under it  but IMO it looks better

The small hole in the hood is for the Supercharger Pulley... because I had to convert it to a Long-nose type that wouldn't fit...  As for the outside the Black Border stripes for the Red are still to be done, as well as some Chrome / Silver stuff.

I would've slapped a leccy fuel pump in there and blanked off the manual one - grab yourself an extra 4Bhp . . . . Plus that standard starter is gonna get cooked under those headers.

Looks sweet - not the colour scheme I'd choose but awesome fierce all the same.
