Bored after 2 minutes in - just how many times can someone clap themselves on the back and say what a good job they're doing

it really kicks in at around 3.50... a campaign to make people aware of a catastrophic situation that the government has created.
by vastlyincreasing taxes,
29 pubs per week are closing,
the increase on tax on beer will finish of many breweries with the loss of many jobs, and the fact that increasing taxe, has resulted in less revenue generated due to smaller sales,
all in all a bad business plan by governments who havn't got a clue.. but not just  in the pub and brewing trade..

Passed the link on to my friend Alan who runs a real ale pub.

Not the best industry to be in at the minute.

Sadly people in the UK on the whole are very dim, and would not even know the difference between a good pint and a bad one (I've avoided using lager as a term, because there are many excellent lagers, you just rarely see them in pubs)

Most people only ever tend to drink mainstream lagers such as stella and fosters, very few appreciate quality anymore.  Sadly real ale pubs are serving a tiny proportion of the market, hence the reason they are finding it difficult. I'm sure Mr weatherspoon will tell you the fosters flies out of the taps.

I really don't think you can blame the government, its the populace that swill the nasty crap, instead of buying decent beers.  The same duty applies to a pint of fosters or carling as it does to something like a local microbrewery pint.

The micro breweries may be shooting themselves in the foot a little here too, as the government were recently kicking plans about to tax beer on its alcohol content, putting strong lagers at a disadvantage, and ales (that tend to be a little weaker) at an advantage.

i think you will find most real ale type beers,
are weaker than the stronger  beers the government wanted to apply the higher tax to,

exactly, so the tax really isn't the reason for decreased sales. its down to people on the whole preferring crap like fosters..

dont ask why..

and the problem is

IMHO a lot of pubs deserve to close, the days of most blokes spending every night and all weekend in the pub are over

many different people use pubs, and restaurants,[ i dont tbh]
you dont have to be a bloke or in them all day...

isnt the favorite place for car meets pubs...

they also employ a lot of people behind the scenes....

Rather missing my point, I'm not for one minute suggesting that all pubs should be closed, just the old skool spit saloons, that cater for mainly mid aged nissheads

Family friendly pubs with a good menu and a nice beer ( don't get me started on Lager ) are my choice

Take an "old skool" pub over a family friendly pub any day of the week.

Poxy kids screaming the place down while I'm trying to get off my face on a pint or four of good old English Ale.  It ain't right! Can't a man enjoy a decent breakfast in peace!!
