Mild mate, should be more than enough for what we need as it meets all specs in the usa for NHRA

Its an 8 point but for a little more could fit a 10 point although it looks a bigger job as the dash etc would need to be chopped around.

Would recommend a 10-point . . . . I've seen the effect caused by rolling an F-body.

I thought the dash was melted anyway ?

For SRS we dont actually need a cage also the 10 point doesnt exactly give easy access

A quick look on the NHRA shows the following

Quoting: NHRA
When do I need a roll bar or roll cage, and what should it look like?
A roll bar is required in any convertible running 13.99 seconds or quicker in the quarter mile, and in other cars beginning at 11.99. The roll bar is accepted in vehicles running as quick as 10.00 second e.t., provided the stock firewall and floorboard is intact, other than for installation of wheel tubs. The rollbar must be constructed of minimum 1 ¾ inch o.d. x .118 inch wall mild steel tubing, or 1 ¾ x .083 chrome moly tubing, and must conform to the following diagram:

Quoting: NHRA
If the floor and/or firewall has been modified, then a full roll cage is required beginning at a 10.99 e.t. A full roll cage is required in any vehicle running 9.99 seconds or quicker, and any vehicle running 135 mph or faster (regardless of e.t.). The roll cage must be constructed of minimum 1 5/8 o.d.x .118 mild steel tubing, or 1 5/8 x .083 chrome moly tubing, and must conform to the following diagram:

Quoting: NHRA
The roll cage of any vehicle running 9.99 or quicker, or 135 mph or faster, must also be certified by NHRA every 3 years, and have a serialized sticker affixed prior to participation.

Is it worth spending the money to get the car to 10.99 ets first, then worry about a roll cage, then ?

The 8 point cage is $149 and its not easy to add afterwards as it needs to be welded into the car section at a time

That's pretty fekking cheap . . . Similar for the third gens are $500+

At that price it's quite reasonable.

That welded into the SFC you have would make that car handle great. Just remember your insurance company might have something to say about the addition of a cage. If your serious about this i would call and ask first

Just spoke to the Insurance company :

8-Point roll-cage, New alloys, "after market" exhaust and SFC's make NO DIFFERENCE to the cost of the policy - Just increases the excess from £150 to £250.

Bargain !

Thought that might be the case. I found that the american car insurers arnt to bothered by mods but try the same with a UK spec car and its a different story.
