Seems to be getting big news coverage this morning, they are now talking about thousands of motorists being effected.
Tesco spokesman quote " We have checked all our fuel batches quality and can confirm that there is no problem with our fuel supplies "

Yeh right they went and checked every tank in the South East, still he's half right ?  Tesco don't have the problem yet

I havent put any fuel in a car for over 8 months, so crap or good fuel when I fill the Maro for the first time will be good enough for me!

thankfully i filled up starty of week

One of the Guy's in our Finance Office filled up last Monday ( 19th Feb ) last and was told this morning that his Astra needs a new O2 sensor due to it being burnt out.
Total cost £406 and currently a three week wait for parts

It would also seem that the Vauxhall fleet cars are not covered, the fleet people are saying if your fleet car is affected, because it's something you did ( i.e not a manufacturing defect ) you pay

Filled up the GMC last Wednesday night ( 21st Feb - cost £110 ) at Asda

"Their vehicles have been juddering, misfiring and suffered a loss of power."

Ahhhh, so that's the problem with the Chav'scort - dodgy fuel.

He has just told me that his Insurance Company is covering the cost of the repair minus the £100 excess
However he's still without a car for three weeks

Guess who he's insured with ???????

Tesco yes really

I refuse to discuss that because it will upset my Bank Manager, but 400 miles is about the average

Yes but we also run 1.3DTi Panda which averages 56mpg, Z28 which has averaged 27.04mpg from new and the new 200cc motorbike which seems to be doing mid 80's mpg.

Mind you I pedal cycled to work today = 200 calories per mile

The latest news :

Meanwhile, an AA source told the BBC traces of silicon have been found in petrol taken from the cars.

Thousands of drivers have complained their cars were damaged after they used petrol from supermarket forecourts.

Tesco said the problems appeared to be linked to forecourts in the south east of England served by a site in Essex.

Both Tesco and Morrisons get fuel from an independent oil company called Greenergy, which insists its supplies meet industry standards.

A major Greenergy storage depot is run by distribution firm Vopak on the River Thames at West Thurrock, Grays, Essex

if its silicone contamination, thats gonna cause problems, if its too high an ethanol concerntration, modern yank car owners will be fine, as most early 90's onwards yanks are designed to run on up to 15% bioethanol, as the americans have been using a 10% mix for some time.

99% of my fillups are in MK & all of those are at BP stations.

The chav'scort gets BP and whatever's nearest.

thing is its not that cheap, most of the large stations have to price match. The BP in brackley is the exact same price as Tesco so why go to a supermarket?

The supermarkets always advertise that their fuel is cleaner meaning more detergent. You cant add something more without reducing something else

Well, just filled up with Texaco and the Caddy is happy, last week it got Tesco and was happy.

Methinks this is mostly drivers of POS cars like BMW's that suffer such problems anyway...

Well I've just filled up at Tesco's in Dunstable, the place was empty

The fuel seems alright in the bike, mind you it has a plastic carb, manual choke and zero emission equipment
