Looking at what you got in terms of relays, i think you almost got it, what i'd do is have the reverse lights +ve feed going to the lights so i powers them, but also take a feed from this +ve to the relay so that when it powers on, it activates the relay, then breaks the 87->30 connection which would be the feed for the fog lights, that way reverse go on, breaks link, turns off fog's....

install 4 x relays for the new stuff, wiring to connect it all and then (maybe ???) get the dash pad back on.

Yup that's the plan, install relays, few more bits for the AF modules and then yeah dash can go back on!!!

Projects / MKB BBQ Tank Repaint
« on: May 27, 2015, 10:43:43 am »
Having used the BBQ for the Bashfest at the start of May, it's clear that the BBQ needed a re-paint on the tank at the minimum as it's showing signs of surface rust.

As it was:

(Rear was by far the worst bit)

So, this weekend i started the process - got a couple of wire wheels (one on the drill and one on grinder) and gave the tank a good going over to remove all the rust on it and smooth things out a bit.

Once that was done i masked off the shiny bits and started giving it a few coats of Matt black VHT Enamel BBQ paint, so it currently looks like this:

It's had 3 / 4 coats now so has a good covering, typically i had to change paint manufacturer half way through the last coat, so it's a bit odd at the moment as although they were both matt black enamel bbq paint - they are different shades, so it'll probably get another 1 or 2 coats of the new, darker paint to have just 1 colour and then i'll fire it up to cure it and see what it looks like after that!!

Yeah thats one of the reasons I am doing it so that it does get used more therefore justifying and negating the costs

 All seems very expensive? :chiny:

What did the trailer used to be before the BBQ?  :pass:

Yes and no - it was a caravan in it's previous life so that add's to the price, plus it's an old chasis and the manufacturer of the brakes / drums / bearings have long gone out of business, so they had to track down parts for me....and when you think of it call it 100 works out and 25 a shoe, can't recollect if that was new OR  a reline of existing shoe....

bearing isn't too bad as thats for Inner bearing, outer bearing and the associated oil seals.....

Inner & Out Bearings
Inner Oil Seals (outers are just a flat washer)
Shoes
Drums
Tires

Well after a busy ol week, finally got some parts sorted:

Tires - 2 new tires now fitted and waiting to go back on - £120
New Brake shoes ordered - £105
New Bearing Kit ordered - £45

Having chatted to the guy where i getting the parts from we're both of the opinion that the drum **should** clean up with a good soaking of brake cleaner, so gunna try that as the drums are £120 EACH!

Just hoping the parts turn up in time as need to get it put back together before next friday!!!!

So Shopping list to get it back on it's wheels:

Inner & Out Bearings
Inner Oil Seals (outers are just a flat washer)
Shoes
Drums

Spoke to a company in MK today and they seemed pretty confident that they can help out - Shoes can be sent for re-lining , seals & bearings can be matched via part numbers they found , drums maybe an issue but they'll see and let me know!
