Title: 225/70 or 225/75 R15?
Post by: Cunning Plan on April 27, 2014, 07:53:19 pm
I currently have 225/70/15 tyres on my Cherokee XJ at the moment, but they all need changing, so I was thinking of going up to 225/75/15 to gain the extra 11mm for a few reasons:

It should reduce the gearing and engine RPM at cruising speeds, potentially meaning a saving in fuel.

They fill the arches more, which looks better.

The cost difference is hardly noticeable.

I realise the speedo may read slighly under the actual speed, however as I know a tolerance is built in for the speedos to over-read, it should be fine.

Apart from that, is there any reason I should stay with the 225/70s?  (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/dontknow.gif)

Hell'uva side wall!

Nothing to add really. I'm about to change my wheels as I'm sick of the 215/65 side wall movement I get.

Just ordered mine from Black Circles. As I have a garage over the way that'll fit them for £10 a wheel, balanced etc, I ring them up and ask for their best price for just delivered.

4 x Kuhmos 245 / 50 R16 = £325 with next day delivery.

Shall hopefully get them fitted for Saturdays trip to the Pod! (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/up.gif)

That's not bad. The cheapest I can find is £10 + £2.50 for disposal, each tyre. meaning another £10 on-top (http://www.mkb.cc/forum/smileys/chiny.gif)

I got my last ones for £9, fitted, balanced, valves and disposal, each.

Disposal at your local recycling centre should be free for domestic users.
