Had a blast at the show today, the best bit taking the Model T back to it's roots ?
Over 50% of early Model T's left the factory as a running chassis with fuel tank, the buyer would then take it to there local Carpenter, who was quite often also the local Undertaker (who made the wooden coffins) to have a body made locally  ;)

So here is a turn of the century Undertaker :

These God fearing Gentlemen were only to happy to trade in their horse for this new fangled 98 year old contraption :

The sort of thing he could take his Wife to Church in :

Simple times  :actcool:

Been spending far too much time on four wheels mainly because I didn't love my excellent Kawasaki ZZR1400 :moped:

Originally starting discussing this project with Kings Road Customs last year, she is a 1200cc vee twin Harley Davidson, with a Roland Sands stage two tune, which consists of new cams, injectors, screaming eagles EFi tuner and Vance & Hines short shots straight through exhausts.

She has been sat at Elite Painters in Fulham for weeks waiting for my own custom design paint and following broken promise after promise, Kings told me last week that Elite have now gone bust  :hair:

However they retrieved the tank, mudguards and side panels etc and not only refunded the paint money, but also a chunk of the modification money as a good will gesture

So if you know of a 1st class custom painter/air brusher please let me know (PhilO's bike painter isn't interested and Rocky's number doesn't work)

If you thought my Ducati was loud, this thing is that times 10  :secure:

Yes I know it doesn't exactly match, but one HAS to have some carbon fibre  :jerkoff:

Michelin Harley Davidson Scorcher tyres :

Still belt drive despite their recommendation to upgrade to chain and sprockets due to the mods, I hate chains  >:(

Handy storage bag :

Extra fuel can because the main fuel tank is tiny and will only give you a 70 mile range tops  :shotgun:

The under slung mirrors are brilliant :

Simple dash that actually provides a lot more information than you'd think :

Twin trip meters :

RPM :

Gear Position :

LED Lights, there are actually bright red but look orange in this picture  ???

The bike is also keyless, as you approach the bike with the transponder in your pocket it automatically disables the alarm and rearms as you walk away  :secure:

As with the trailer it's also been Datatagged :

Always swore that I'd never buy a Harley, but I just couldn't commit to my first choice of a Ducati Deval, because parts of it have been beaten with the ugly stick and second choice the Triumph Thunderbird Storm is badly made  :ORIG-slap:

So still plenty to do, custom paint (awesome colour choice that is very difficult to paint so I'm told), some custom graphics (agreed and ordered, but quite a long lead time), recover the seat in brown leather and change the rear shocks to black ones

and Harley haters gonna hate  :kkk:

4
So, what is this one going to be used for?  :pass: :pokey:

Also moved one of my other cars and another motorcycle, not bad for the first week of ownership.

5
Is that for your trailer queen? :gay:

It's not that big, Oh arr Vicar !

Custom size 108cm wide x 501cm long, so just fits inside my garage, did consider a Beavertail trailer, but apart from spending £4k+ they weigh over 1 ton empty, so when loaded need a large SUV or pickup to haul it

As I said I've designed it for multi-use, which his certainly what it's going to get  :drive1:

6
Sorted, had to wait 8 weeks as it's been built to order by PRG Trailers in Crew Cheshire :

Fully galvanised, low deck height with 2m long ramps, two speed manual winch, fully adjustable wheel clocks, centre in fill and rear stands, data tagged, tracker fitted and it also has three ramps  ???
Meaning I can use it for cars, bikes or something with three wheels  :secure:

Martyn could take his bike... :rofls: that'd be like someone suggesting I take my Camaro Banger racing :rofls:

The big Kawasaki is going, it's a great bike, easy to ride, unbelievably fast, comfortable and great two up but...............

I just don't love her like I did the Ducati

It's been really hard finding something to replace her and it's rather different, but I hope to get it sorted in the next week or two

Anyone had any experience with these because they are relatively cheap and almost portable  :actcool:

Could be another useful edition to my 3rd garage and at 110mm high closed would even squeeze under the Camaro   :secure:

Been searching E Gay for a while but most decent ones seem to be 90% the cost of a new one
Weight capacity 1600kg ideally galvanised needed for my new project.

Well it was a bit nippy this morning but we were surprised how many cars turned out, loads of Yanks  :secure:

Pictures can be found here : http://s29.photobucket.com/user/fbody007/slideshow/Shuttleworth%20050415?sort=2

Gave the old Gal an oil change when we got home, remember T's don't have an oil filter or oil pump and the oil also lubricates the gearbox and cotton fiction plates, so it's important to change the mono grade mineral oil at least every 1,000 miles to flush the crap out

Hard to believe that this was the most valuable (in money) car at the show, worth in my opinion over £500K+ and Blowers are now £1.5m+

Part of your Pistonheads Vinyl decal is missing :rtfm:

Other than that absolutely amazing, do you fancy doing a similar job / lesson on the IROC in April sometime? (genuine serious question, let me know :): and I don't expect it for free)

Happy to help you without payment, the only issue I ever have is time, I was erm "Working from home last week", but I normally work anywhere in the UK & Europe during the week and travel home at the weekends. Monday morning I'll be leaving for Plymouth at 4am  :ryan:

The most interesting thing in F1 nowadays is looking at the state of Bernie Eclestone

Yeah I know he's worth Billions but for fuck sake get a ruddy haircut !

So this week I've been sprucing her up a bit, before deciding whether to go for a full on restoration to factory fresh standard  ???

Well I really regret waxolying the car when it was new, I'd like to remove all traces of the black shit and replace all the chassis fixings with stainless steel. Then coat it with clear POR50

However then I'd be wanting to get the paintwork 100% perfect and replace the windscreen due to a small stone chip she's had for the last 10 years  ::)

Then I go drive the rusty old model T and think fuck it, it's a car it's purpose is to be driven and in doing so stone chips etc happen  :blackeye:

Is that a dirty mark on the back of the headrest? :stir:

Well spotted it's leather polish that hadn't dried, I did spot it before I took the picture but thought no one would notice  :grenade:

General Banter / Camaro News !
« on: March 14, 2015, 12:49:58 pm »
Last week I turned down a reasonable offer for the Camaro because I know I'll really regret selling her.
So this week I've been sprucing her up a bit, before deciding whether to go for a full on restoration to factory fresh standard  ???

After a good clean and very close inspection, despite still having a very good shine, it became apparent that over the last couple of years the paint has got some swirl marks, from being washed and dried

So it was time to break out the cutting compound and machine polisher  :polish:

WARNING :Unless you know what your doing do NOT attempt to machine cut any painted surface, it is very sensitive to pressure and any curved or corner surfaces. In seconds you can do serious damage to your paint work and I've had a few years experience !

It's also worth noting that it makes one hell of mess with compound going everywhere, so wear overalls, glasses and be prepared for a big clean up operation

It took me about 2 hours to machine and hand cut the bodywork and then a dam site longer to clean the compound off. I've learnt that the best way to remove it, is firstly with a dry clean polishing cloths over all paint work, then the same process using slightly dam cloths, then apply final coat polish thickly over the paintwork, allow to dry and then polish off.

This removes about 95% of the compound, then tackle the corners and joints etc and polish off. Then finally apply a light coat of polish to the whole car, allow to dry and polish off to a mega swirl free shine  8)

NB : This is only the second time in 15 years that she has had a deep cut and red is the best colour to do it with !

Then spend the rest of the weeks spare time detailing :

Also gave the interior a top detailing after parking under a tree last Saturday with the T Tops off  :homer:

General Banter / Re: Which Wheel Cleaner - FBody?
« on: March 14, 2015, 12:09:08 pm »
I use Wonder Wheels on the rest of the F Body fleet because its more aggressive than the Auto Glym cleaner  ;)
So it cleans the daily drivers better, but you have to be careful with any plastics like dust caps etc, it will turn them white it left on longer than a minute or two  :(

General Banter / How to start a well oiled Ford Model T.
« on: March 08, 2015, 04:43:59 pm »
After breaking the transmission brake band a couple of weeks ago and today using the only three tools you need to fix a "T", a large flat bladed screw driver, a large adjustable spanner and a hammer and after spewing some more oil over the garage floor she's running again

But as Henry was quoted as saying when a customer complained about a Model T leaking oil " If a Model T isn't leaking oil, it's run out ! "

So for those of you with your modern new fangled 50 or 60 year old cars, I'd thought I'd show you how to start a 1917 Model T  ???

Sorted the red sample is a lot clearer, but I only have quick reply now without any "quote" buttons etc. Will check my settings further when I get chance.

Sorted it was a tick box saying "quick Reply" in menu box for the new red background

Well done Ian thank you for your hard work  :NEW_cool:

Couple of comments, firstly the bland blue colour scheme makes it hard to see the details in day light, not a problem for some users  :ryan:

Secondly it's really hard to find the right Smiley and when you do nothing seems to happen when you click it, you only know it's been inserted when you close the Smiley page ?
