Just serviced my gf's Ford Fiesta.

I took the air-filter box off to replace the air-filter and I could hear something rattling inside which I assumed was a broken screw, but after failing to see any damaged screws I was confused.

Anyway, opened it up and found these weird things which were like cubes and hard, but could be chipped away at with a screwdriver?

I am totally confused to what they are and how they could get into the air-filter box?

There is NO way they could have been flicked up from the road as they are too heavy and there is a winding system of pipe-work for them to have got through to get to under the filter element.

The ONLY thing I can possibly think of is some kind of 'moisture attracting' cube put in there by Ford? The car is not very old ('58 plate).

Any ideas?????

Some sort of small animal crap thats you've been chipping away at with your screw driver (ooo err missus!) thats been rolling around in there and formed little balls that attract people to wonder, 'what the hell is that?' and then pick them up.

Just a guess.

People on VZi are saying that they are probably resin - as in weed :O

So, did a drug dealer used to own the car? :O

you should never stick weed into an airbox, just like easy start the car gets addicted to it

If it were an old BMC car it could be cubes of spare wiring loom smoke, just in case the existing smoke fell out...
