Does anyone have any previous experience using these devices which use your house wiring as a network?

No idea but applying some simple logic, if they send the signals through your house wiring, surely they could be picked up at another house in the street, unless you have a diode or filter ?

Edit : The 3 phase supply is generally spilt between houses so that would be every third house ??

Unlikley, every 3 house would be on the same phase as you and i doubt the signal would get back that far. Systems like that usualy use the earth lop anyways

Im sure there was an idea a few years ago to inject a digital signal onto the 50hz sine wave of the national grid as a way for comunications

If you think about it no one can access it as its internal ip's

they are a good idea if wireless is not ideal, not sure if they have to go direct into a socket or can go through a multi / 4 way extension tho...

Also i spose depends on the quality of wires in teh house as to speed....
