Ok, I haven't read the news article as i've always thought of global warming as a bit of a myth.

But it got me thinking. I've always thought that the earth makes plenty of CO2 on it's own, and that we don't have that much affect on it. But it prove it I did some calculations:

OK, all the volcanoes in the world give out approx. 4.9e11 g/day of CO2
A brand new car gives out about 120 g/K of CO2
there are well over 600,000,000 cars in the world (33 mill of which are UK)
so all the cars in the world give out 7.2e10 g/K

which means if all the cars in the world only drive 4.2 miles a day (and I'm sure they do more than that), we will double the CO2 from all the volcanoes in the world.

Interesting.... though still don't think tax or pertol prices will make much of diff....

No, but I'm sure alot of the non-stationary ones do more that 4.2 miles a day.

and thats just cars, once you add in all the other human impacts, maybe we really are f**king the planet up...

tis a shame that driving is so much fun, I don't think I could give it up if i wanted to
