Is anyone about over the weekend to give me a hand to change the rear pads on the merc?

Due to an unexpected - and very painful - complication with my recent shoulder op, I'm back to being unable to do any heavy lifting again and that includes pulling wheels off of cars. I have the pads and they're real simple to replace but I need a hand to do it.

tea/coffee and sandwiches will be provided. Early sat afternoon would be preferable

All my tools are in the lorry and I can't lift it out at the moment but I've got enough to do the job at home.

Merc jack and wheel brace to lift the car and remove wheels.
Hammer, nail punch and pliers to remove the retaining clips from the calipers,
Pinch bar to force the pistons back.
Can of brake cleaner
I'll need to pick up a tube of copper grease but thats all I should need

Sorry Ray after spending all last weekend either working on the Rustang or at work I've been grounded this weekend
Might be able to get over next weekend

Thanks for all the kind offers, greatly appreciated, but fate has stepped in and forced my hand. I've now got to go to Leamington and Leicester tomorrow late afternoon so I have to get it done tomorrow which means paying one of the Kwik Fit type companies to sort it out.

I hate paying for something I can do myself (or get mates to do )

Thanks again

Fieldy

i was quite keen too, was going to see if the girl wanted a drive to M.K tonight....

National Tyres in Bletchley

Went there last night about 5.45 to ask them if they could do it for me. Not right now he said as we close at 6.00 but can do it first thing in the morning around 8.30 although we'll need the pads from our supplier (like everyone else they won't use the customers own pads ) which I'll order now.

get there this morning at 8.25 to be told (by a different guy on duty) that yes they can do it now if I leave it with them for 'a couple of hours'.

I pointed out that thats not really doing it now is it?

I query why it needs to be left when its a simple enough job. He then says they have to get the pads from their supplier (in Dunstable!!) and it takes at least an hour to get from Dunstable to Bletchley (by horse and cart maybe?) and then 'another couple of hours to fit them'

We are taliking about just a set of rear pads aren't we? I ask. 'yes' says he. And a couple of hours to fit them? 'At least', says he.

So off the Wolverton Fast Fit Station instead who do it while I wait - still took them over an hour to fit rear pads - at a cost of £94 incl VAT

At least their waiting room is comfortable with fresh coffee brewing and free Rombouts biscuits (which I'm still eating as I filled my pockets ) and a good selection of car magazines

Thinking about it I should've sent you down Andy Oils . . they'd have fitted you in and probably charged you £40 - tops.
