Has anyone got any experience of using Mr Clutch in Bletchley, or can they recommend somewhere else for the Clutch and slave cylinder to be changed on a 2001 1.6 Focus? It's about ready to give up and I really need to book it in somewhere...

I've been quoted £285 so far.

£285 sounds bloody good! My 1.8 Mondeo was £390 something include slave cylinder.

The Mr Clutch in Wycombe are very good, not that that helps

As it's not a specialist vehicle i'd give Andy Oil's a bell . . . . . . don't worry - my brother doesn't work there anymore.

I used the Bristol Mr Clutch.

No one could touch them on price or speed of repair.

Also, if I took it back on set intervals I think the warranty extended to 3 or 5 years (about the same price for my Mondeo). No hidden charges. Can't remember exactly as I forgot to do so

I would use them again easy

OK, so they did the job and the clutch is all fine an dandy. I even printed off a £20 off voucher from there website!

However, a bit of a snag on the quality of work front. While investigating a rattle I found grease all round the passenger side wheel. The cause being that that some dumbarse had been a bit over enthusiastic while grinding off the corroded pinch bolts in order to drop the subframe. As a result they'd nicked and split the CV boot  and put a half dozen or so nicks in the brake disc. Not impressed to say the least!

So off I went on Wednesday morning with both barrels loaded to get it sorted, and to the manager's credit he handled it really well. You could see as I explained it that he wasn't impressed either, and said that the tech that was working on it should have told him and they would have rectified it there and then. End result, I've got a new CV boot and a new set of discs and pads all free of charge (minus a trip to Bletchley and back).

Not happy that it happened, but verry happy with the end result and how my complaint was handled!

Nice one! Sounds like you got a bit of a monkey doing the job, but can't complain with getting a free set of pads and discs!

Question is, would you use them again?

I'd only ever use a garage for something that I haven't got the kit or ability to do myself as I have an inherent mistrust of most trades. I can't fault them on competitive price and customer service, and the workshop looked clean and well equipped. Assuming that nothing goes wrong with the clutch I think i'd use them again, but i'd always check over the areas worked on afterwards...
