I replaced mine in my Mondeo after one split down the M40. Replaced it with bog standard fuel line and then jubilee'd it at either end. Never had any issues, think I had it for 2 years after that.

How did you get a Jubilee clip over them? They are tiny!

Unless you are talking about a different pipe?

I'm on about the little pipes that feed between the injectors. Been googling for an image, but can't find one that gives enough detail.

They're about 5-6" long and just loop from one injector to the next. Then there is a blanked off one at the end.

I think the fuel line had an od of about 1/2" maybe 5/8" but easily done up. Felt I had to after how much just a hair line fracture in the previous hose had sprayed all over the bay.

Nothing beats that fear of turning the blower on and just smelling diesel!

Yup, we are talking about the same thing.

Still no idea how you got a jubilee clip on though as there doesn't seem like there would be enough space between the injector and the pipe!

I said I put a jubilee on either end, I never said it clamped anything

I really can't remember too much about it, I know I put some on there but can't remember how close fit it was.

There are no traditional scrap yards with rows of cars left in Bedfordshire now, if your lucky you might find a parts recycling centre, but you pay through the nose

What a brilliant idea re the grip tape.



Looks good.  It's nice quick, little projects like these that can really pick you up and re-motivate you when battling a long-term build.

I miss my local scrappy! Had many a fun time going round our one with mates hooking bits off cars, sometimes having a look and seeing how bits worked.

Place burnt to the ground about 5 years ago and then they ended up getting rid of all the cars and clearing the site. Now have to go to a place like Martin says where they pick the part for you, can't see the car yourself. Dead boring.

Good work there CP. That grip tape idea is a treat! Off Jeep topic, but on the mondys you can get chrome strips that go along there to add some bling factor!

Yep, the ones I called around me were exactly that. You go to a counter to buy the item which they have just torn from the vehicle and charge almost as much as a new part.

Yah the tape really suits 'utility' vehicles. I don't think it would work for other car-types as much.

A common problem on the 2.5TD Cherokee is the number 1 injector. It has a wire coming from it which sends a signal from the position sensor in the injector to the ECU. When it stops sending a signal, the engine goes into a crude limp-mode and limits revs to 2k rpm.

A very long time ago, I learnt this because it went into limp mode. I detached the wire from everything else and played with it, reconnected it and for 15k miles, it has been fine. However, today it is now back in limp-mode.

I wonder if the really cold weather this morning has anything to do with it. I guess it could have got some moisture on the delecate connection..

So, I have the special injector socket on order and I need to find a reasonable Jeep breakers for one of these:

Drove to work today and it is..... fine!

I think the position sensor on the number 1 injector is faulty. It will probably be more intermittent now.

I'll keep looking for a replacement injector.

Please give me a shout if you know of one being broken
