Guys,

It is evident that some changes are needed to the BBQ to make it more acceptable for future use at Billing Shows, given some changes which we are willing to make I believe any Ban would be Lifted, Here are some Ideas that have been suggested by people recently.

1. Make the Central Heating Electric - Means that it is not required to have the BBQ using large quantities of fuel & running contained overnight.
2. Use Normal Smokeless Charcoals - Basically without the need to run the heating off burnt fuel it could be used as a Normal BBQ, Lit for meals using regular fuels
3. Convert to Propane Smokeless, and instant, but the pricey option out of the 3.  Would (as far as I know) not work with the heating pipes at all...?

The main problem I can see from reading what people have put is the Smoke & the type of Fuel we used last weekend.  his is not hard to adapt.

Personally I vote to move for a combination of Options 1&2.
It's the time that we kill that keeps us alive...

Central heating wont be used again until next year mate. And as it wasnt entirley sucesfull i was going to add an imersion heater element anyways

Yup charcoal and coalite will be enough to cook on

Seconded!

The heating could do with a boost anyway, so the intent was there to fit an emersion heater. And i't just common sence that a cleaner exhaust is better for all....

FUBAR

Personally given the outline of future use for the BBQ & intention for fuel to be used I think a reasonable decision can be made regarding its use during AACI shows.

Even if they give us the Last Hookup in the row on PD the prevailing wind direction will in 90% probability take any smoke resulting from even normal charcoal use away from everyone elses pitches.

Graeme, Please keep this on Topic.

I dont see why not if we use our heads.  The only reasons for anyone complaining about us being there are shown above.  How hard is it to just change fuels, not very hard is it.

Personally I see no reason why, with a bit of patience, using the suggestions from above we can't carry on staying there & having a Laugh as we have done.

Harry has already said that MKB will not be able to camp in PD. He has also stated that the BBQ will not be allowed near any AACI event.

This is fine with me. Billing is a site of 150+ acres plenty of space for us to camp without causing further tensions between the 2 clubs

Some of us are no longer members . . . . apparently.

So are not entitled to reserved areas.

Roadkill

Although I'm happy to modify it for future use (this was the plan anyway . . ) I Do NOT think it's wise to base plans purely on the outcome of the Spring Nats.

It would be silly to think all of the complaints made regarding the BBQ at billing were well-founded.

They weren't.

We know what needs to be done, us.

If people are still unhappy with it, then they clearly have hidden motives.

Jamieg285

I think it is unlikely that we will be in Puddle Duck again, unless the rest of the site is over flowing.

We can still get hook-ups in the other areas of the site though, so not all is lost.

Roadkill

I only started camping in PD recently, anyway.

Where we were before was just fine by me.

Can I stick my little oar in???

I understand that there have been comments made about the said BBQ, including a "ban" at AACI meets. It has also been suggested that certain individuals may be checking our forum and referring to some comments made here to support their position. Therefore, you might think it wise to chat about any mods needed direct with one another and not on the forum - that is unless it is possible to change the forum web site so that only members can look at the discussions. I am sure jamieg285 can have a pass to make the necessary mods!!

(Mind you, I am a little confused why anyone from AACI and not MKB would want to keep looking in at our little forum if we are nothing to do with them. I think I am a little bewildered... - sorry got off topic in my own post!)

I am just concerned that any of our comments and/or banter is being used my others, effectively against us. What does anyone else think???

Roadkill

I Think it's sad that people are insecure enough to spy on us.

Join up and talk - that's fine, spying, No.

Sorry, OT.

I think it best to keep this one in the open, we've nothing to hide, here.

The modifications were gonna happen anyway - regardless of anyones comments/complaints . . .

Welcome to the sad world luv. Ever since this forums birth we have been acussed of being anti AACI. This is constantly refered to but never any actual posts or threads or proof.

Personally, I don't see any reason for non-public forum sections at all.

How to make a bbq better for everyone is not exactly something which needs to be secret.

art b

well i dont see dan,ray c, rapid, steve, dave, or any of the avo crew,
or the aacuk members, venting their anger on any public forums,

i assume they have plenty to gripe about but must be aware that there are ways and means to achieve things in an adult manner,

and there are plenty  of non public forum sections out there!
we've all read em, [through the wonder of cutting and pasting]
all avoiding a lot of the stick that the mkb have choose to attract!!

i suppose it depends on your aims!!
horses for courses ????
This forum needs, ''YOU'' posting,Not just reading ! :moon:

Do you know, I am not a member of AACI, nor do I know a lot about them, nor am I "anti". I guess I just don't care!

I'm no fan of hiding the truth or back stabbing.
I dislike the use of hidden forums to bitch and moan about issues.

If people haven't got the balls to speak out in public they should shut the F*ck up entirely.

In my opinion, of course.

I Hate people who play nicey nicey, then slag you off when your back is turned.
"Cowards" is a word I'd use to discribe them - It's got NOTHING to do with "Being adult" it's about Idiots who are too scared to stand up in public and voice their opinions.

Again, In my opinion.

WHAT HAPPEN TO THE TOPIC AT THE TOP OF THIS THREAD!!!!!!!!
It's the time that we kill that keeps us alive...

O.K, Back on topic . . . I agree a mix of Items 1 & 2 . . . Adding Propane will just create more grief . . . . Explosive gases and all . . . .

Pod

I thought it was all sorted by the third post...

O.K,

I'd also suggest (at least one) Fire extinguisher as well.
Also the use of Gloves for the "operators".
Also when in use the Fuel store door to be closed . . Preventing any hot embers setting the store alight.
I'd also suggest a (in built) suppresion system purely for extinguishing the BBQ in the event of a emergency or at the end of the day, before going to bed . . . etc.

This is overkill as it is IMO, but worth considering at least.
