Looking to get my Mum an iPad and wanted to see what you would recommend, needs to be fairly cheap, and easy to use.

If you want cheap & cheerful, the Tesco Hudl would do - it's an Android Device, 16gb onboard storage with 8" screen:
http://www.tesco.com/direct/hudl2-orange-refurbished/661-1705.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=661-1705 (only link i can find is for refurb but new ones in stores all the time)

Then slightly more is google's Nexus 9 tablet - 8.9" screen, android 5, various storeage options

Then there's the range of sumsung devices, varying sizes and storage, something like a Tab 3 or Tab 4 would be more than sufficient :

Me and Mum both have the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8" - we both got ours from Tesco, but here it is on Amazon
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-8-inch-White-x/dp/B00EC9C2E2

It's a nice size tablet without being too heavy to hold. There are tons of cases for them on Ebay for around £1-£5 as well

We both paid just over £200 for it, so it has come down a bit in price - looks like that is cause the Tab 4 8" is now out for the same price as the Tab 3

We're using these at work for a project and they are fantastic value for money: http://m.ebuyer.com/719500
We got a few when they were on offer at £50 but still good value at the regulate price

Just wanted to add that the reason we are looking to get one for her is so she can Skype us and other family, so we would be looking for a tablet with a reasonable camera that can be used in various lighting conditions.

Mum & I have used ours to Skype quite a bit and never had any issues with the camera (although I do normally leave mine off ;-) )
