Next question - where can I get a mains transformer 25-30 V AC - 2 Amps ???

I might as well be discussing brain surgery . . .

???

Not a clue . . .

I assume so . . . Basically a wall plug on one end, connect to the wallbox the other . . . the manual for the adapter asks for a 2A inline fuse but I'm guessing that's because U.S 2-pin wall plugs don't have fuses in them . . . I'm assuming a U.K plug with a 2A fuse will do the same (or better).

I'm thinking the toroidal transformer though probably the 30V 2A version.  Probably worth running it past Steve..

They don't look too easy to "install" . . . I'd except some way of mounting them to a surface ???

Cool, thanks.  Funnily enough, the actual typed cards that came out look really good (not typed-looking at all).I've also found  this : http://www.1001fonts.com/flottflott-font.html#galleryWhich will work well in the display window next to the coins slot . . . my Unit proudly bares the name "Stan's" next to the "25c" note . . . I'm sure I can come up with something amusing . . . I was planning on compiling a spoof food menu for my diner booth with a separate spoof drinks menu for my bar table.

Look to Fallout Maybe for some 50's-esque tongue-in-cheek inspiration.  if I see anything while playing "4" next week i'll screenshot it for you.  On that note you could use "Nuka Cola" :)

This should do you:

http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/2x25v-100va-toroidal-transformer-a31qj

Although it's a big boy:

Height x Diameter (mm)   45 x 91
Weight Kg   1.10

VTX-146-100-225: http://www.vigortronix.com/ToroidalTransformers-DualPrimary2x115V.aspx

You'll need to connect the two primaries together in series, and the secondary windings in parallel.

Hmm, had a measure up . . . I'm not sure that transformer is going to fit inside the existing case . . . there's a chassis-mount one there already (which I'm guessing will be redundant ??) so was thinking of installing the new one there.

How do you secure the toroidal transformers to something ?  They don't look like they have any way of fixing them down ?

The description says they come with a fixing kit which I believe consists of appropriately sized washers spaces and a bolt (based on other toroidal transformers I've seen). I couldn't comment on the existing one unless the kit instruction says to remove it.

I've just began to enter the 21st century and have read an article about Sonos . . . . I'm guessing this set-up would speak to a Bluetooth transmitter actached to an old skool iPod O.K as well, yes ?

(Sonos sounds cool, BTW - music in every room - awesome).

BTW I've just been looking at the new SONOS Play 5 for a work colleague, noticed it has an auto-detecting 3.5mm audio line-in connection..and thought of you. 😉   Only one in the range that does though..

Cheers, Darlin'.

Must admit, this one's on the back burner, as the next planned task is to polish the casing (which will, in turn, propel dirty polish in all directions at great velocity) hence I'm waiting til I have some space back in the garage.
