Think I'll stick with standard but clear corner lights, maybe some brighter bulbs...bit lame atm

Yeah they aint brill, another reason i changed mine around so the corner ones are indicators only and the sidelights are part of the main headlight unit!!

im beginging to wonder if its a Jap alarm system (or one made specifically for jap) as likewise not found much out about them!

Can't even find the alarm module to get a s/n or something its certainly well hidden.

As far as I can tell I should be able to program the fob to do other stuff like open the boot or with an extra module start the engine

I'd guess the other two mysterious buttons were intended for a boot release . . . the other maybe remote start or fuel filler cap release ?

Indeed.

I was thinking it . . . . But as GM men, we must just stand aside and laugh - let these Ford boys have fun with their toys.

Aerial is hidden above the rear view mirror.

Had my head under the dash, can't see it. must be some where though.

Filler cap is manual.  As I understand it all four buttons are programable hence labeled 1-4 rather than specific tasks etched on them.  you could use 1 button to lock and unlock if you wanted...

Need the s/n or p/n to find out more.

Seperate, side lights are in the mainbeam housing.  though the indicator bulbs apear to be duel filament.

The headlight bulb looks expensive

Sounds like what I found when I pulled mine.  In original wiring form, they were side/running lights and indicators.

Beware - there are 2 different forms of the dual filament orange bulb, the posts are in different places.  I got the wrong ones for my, and although I did manage to force them in, they don't work the same.

yup, they are 12  / 21 watt

the 12w is the origional (amber) side light, and 21 is the indicator

interestingly, there is a black box on the jap spec cars that turns the side light off while the indicator is flashing, so instead of flashing bright dim bright dim, it flashes bright off bright off, then the side light comes back on a couple of seconds after the indicator is switched off
