There's more than enough room there to bang the 158mph limiter in a LS1 z/28 - so I've heard anyhow

I easily made it to 103mph in the wet in my Z28 . . . . . with 3 bald tyres . . . . and only 2nd and 4th gears going the other way.

I know some fairly decent roads if you want to run?

From a low speed roll will be eaiser, but if it's quiet then from a dig would be possible.

The Leighton Buzzard by-pass is very good. From Totternhoe to Dunstable. No turnings, no bridges, no houses no nothing just open black top and wide enough to go side by side.

A roll from like 20mph to xxxmph would be the easiest sort of race.

Any takers??????

I'll have a go - I've got a 4th gen camaro too

I wouldn't race for money, honest guv.

Just a pink slip.

Nearly ready now RK; just sent the converter back to Chance Converters; when we did a pre build check we ( I say we, I should actually credit Jon Webster as I completely missed it) spotted a hairline crack in the rear turbine; it had some braze in it which means it was like that during manufacture - it didn't look right so we sent it back.

The rebuilt (new) engine dynoed at a little under 670 with 648 ftlbs - thats without the 450-500 shot of gas of course

With the new nitrous cam; thicker Diamond pistons it'll run a mid 13 sec if 300bhp still wants to race

........or a mid/high 8 once we get it back on the track.

Good news, then.

I think you'll see some support, MKB style, this year.

With a few of the others running in SRS it looks like there'll be quite a few trips to the track this year.

Good luck, Mate.

Keep us posted.

its a shame that the strips arnt so accesable, in the USA you could get all your buddies to gether and have the track to yourself mid week i dread to think what a day at the pod would cost, bloody good fun though and no waiting for a chavd motor to collect its motor up in a bin bag

About £4000 including marshalls, safety crew and a prepped track. Webster Race Engineering used to run their own test days mid week, 3 or 4 a year but the turnout started to drop off so bad that they stopped. Same old story - book me in I'll pay on the day and then not turn up or cancel the day before.

For £150 you got a race prepped track, as many runs as you like and no queues plus backup and advice from one of the top chassis builders in Europe - a bit pricey for the average rwyb crowd but for race teams testing it was a godsend; I learnt more on one test day about the car than seasons worth of racing.

Rarely were there more than 20 cars booked in and even rarer was to find one in front of you in the fire up lane.

Thats not bad, when we had the westfield trackdays were about the same, with that kind of track time you wouldnt need more than a couple a year

I went to the Pod on a Jaguar day a few years back. Quite a few cars turned up but there was next to no queing, you could hot lap if you wanted. Think it cost about £35 per driver.

Cool, well let us know when your ready to run and we'll have to set something up.

Should be a good race, the "Euro" Ls1's where only rated as either 295bhp or 288bhp depending on spec.

BTW - Where abouts are you? I'm in Leighton Buzzard.

I'd be interested in getting a logger on Rays car for a couple of runs at the Pod next season if he's willing... Ray?
