Now there IS a challenge for RK...

Depends on when you define the start of the show season?

There's the Autosport show usually in January

Not sure yet.... I might be on Friday or Saturday..... I would prefer Friday as you get a less class of punter...

Almost missed that, that's not very nice....

I can't help it....

Although I have had free tickets for 3 years now on the trade days....

Once with MK college, Once with Woodward (Adrenaline Research), and now with Racelogic...

Jamieg285

Well, maybe hate is too strong a word.

I very rarely get such opportunities.

your not missing much, you very rarely get to see anything other than your own boothe. When i used to do the hifi shows you would spend the whole day listening to the same tracks in a room basicaly dark apert from spotlights on the product. You wake up and its dark outside then work in the dark allday before returning to your hotel room in the dark, outside whats that. Even the shows in vegas bgin to get boring as once you have seen everything in vegas ther isnt much more

Titsy

The last two times (and this time) I have been it has been on a shift basis, so you get a chance to walk round and see what else is about... You don't get the whole day to see everything, but you get a good chance to see what you want to go see...

And it's not really dark and dank either...

everyone used to think doing sony demos was a real laugh, but the reality was a long drive, then a hotel room, then up, then have chavs talking complete bull to you all day while listening to music at 3000dB then drive home with a headache... you never got to see anything..

although there were some pretty cool parties / sessions on the 2 or three day events, but only after the had cleared....

Jamieg285

I did do a couple of (small) shows in my earlier days with the Sprint Car. There was a small oval show held in Brentwood, 1st year my car was being demo'd by Barry Lee, (Tiff Needell was offered a go, but declined).  Will Gollop was there too, and he stuffed his super dooper rally cross car into the side of a Transit  You'd have thought that he more than anyone would know how to drive in slippery conditions.

The year after we weren't displaying anything, but were still involved with the organisers.  Although the show it'self was a bit smaller affair - no high profile names this year, the after show dinner/party was more fun. We ended up on a table with Smax Smith and the team(before his Top Fuel days), and were thoroughly entertained with the stories they had to tell.

Have done trade shows for the last 10 years and the evenings are nearly always the best part. the only down side is feeling like crap the following morning and having to be nice to people when all you really want to do is find a corner to die in

Not that easy with a Mortgage, Mate.

You can't just up and leave.  A new job's gotta pay more then this job . . . plus "on paper" I'm not that well qualified to do much.

I could go back to engineering as I am well qualified in that . . . . but the risk of redundancy is too high.

So I'm stuck, really.  Unless another PM job comes along . . . which are few and far between.

Fieldy

you could always get a job at Heathrow....Thats a barrel of laughs

Oh, while on the topic..anyone who knows of any sound engineering/work let me know

again i know a few enginners, have met rick rubin a couple of times, have ron st germain's cell number, have also met mike brower and a few more that i cant remember at the moment

Most recording artist are recording in home studios as its cheaper for the record companies then they just send the recording to some one like bob ludwig or greg calbi to be mastered
