Alright there & happy new year.

Ok without wanting to divulge too much info somehow the hazard warning swich has been broken off in my Camaro.

It's on the steering column just in front of the ignition barrel.

Anyone know the part number for the switch at all?

Also the cowling over the column doesn't appear to come off, I guess you have to take the steering wheel off to get at the switch, anyone got any info on doing this?

The Heynes manual only seems to cover the hazard flasher unit, which in this instance is of no help.

Could really do with some help on this as at the moment the hazzards are either on all the time, or if I pull the fuse out I stop them flashing but have no brake lights.

BTW - the car is a 1999 Camaro z/28 LS1 auto (Euro spec).

Cheers.

airbag is held in with 2 bolts, disconect the battery forst then undo the bolts to get the bag off the wheel. from memory though the screws for the cowl cover are put in from underneath so you shouldnt need to remove the wheel

HardRockCamaro

Can't find it at http://www.gmpartsdirect.com?\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">www.gmpartsdirect.com?

Roadkill

Pretty sure they'll be generic across the board for late Camaros.

My '83 has the same switch as my '94 did.

GM#12337876 $0.78 but thats just the button have now asked for the complete switch

The hazzard switch is integrated with the turn signal switch. 1995963, and it's pretty cheap, too. $53.13 list.

Cheers, although the I assume the turn signal switch is the indicator? If so it must be different, because the indicator stalk is on the left of the steering wheel it also controls the wipers and main beam. The hazard warning switch is on the right hand side of the steering wheel, a red button in a domed shaped cowl attached to the side of the steering colum cowling.

I'll try and get some pics and post up this evening.

would guess its a complete ring as the hazards would use the same circuit as the turn signals. Goatman has been working on the GM parts counter for 20 years so he should know what he is looking at

Yeah didn't think of that.

Anyhow here's some more info:

VIN - 2g1fp22g2x2121867

It's the red bit that's broken:

55starchief

well the red button looks like its held on with a screw so you might only need that which was about $0.78

Goatman

Looks like the screw is still there, so a button might just do the trick.

**UPDATE**

Ok finally got it fixed, all it needed in the end was the red button as the bottom had snapped off.

The EURO spec Fbody's are totally different to the US ones however as the US cars have the hazard integrated into the same flasher unit as the indicators. Not the EURO models, they have a 2nd flasher unit and circuit and the hazard switch is totally different

and to be honest the switch mechanism on the EURO models is pretty crap and I can easily see it breaking again.

If anyone needs the part number for the switch PM or post and I'll go dig it out for ya.
