Mini Project Eldo - With Cleaning Questions !!!

O.K.

I may well be selling the Eldo soon but she's looking a bit sorry for herself.

The (bad) paint job is dull and a bit rough.

I test T-cutted a patch on the bonnet and it came out shiny-ish, albeit it still looked crap.

The theory is simple.  Clean, shiny crap paint is better then Dirty, dull crap paint.

So, question one, Aside from a good T-Cut and Polish is there anything (which is cheap/free) that I can do to improve the poor/rough paint ?

Also, the "carriage" roof is dull and old looking.

I know a good clean will improve it but also want to give it a bit of a treat to bring back some gloss to it.

I'll only be doing this once so don't want to spend a fortune on buying some one-off treatment.  So.

Question two.  What's best for this ?

Thanks in advance.

I have some wax that they use in dealerships, gives a mirror shine for a day or 2. Also have some claner that will work on the top before some black shoe polish

Just T cut and a reasonable polish, I still rate Autoglym in the shine per £ rating
The other age old trick is to throw a bucket of water over it before you take the photo's and just before somebody views it

Sounds like a job for PhilO

i t-cut and polished the boot of the chavscort one... it came up a treat.... id suggest a good few goes of a mild cutting agent, like t cut metallic or g3 extra fine and then a polish with autoglm super resin polish... should bring it up shinny for a while...

Agreed, but I don't wanna sell the car as something it's not.

Being evasive (sp) on some matters is one thing, hinting it's something that it's not is another.

See above, I'm gonna do it during work time !

g3 extra fine

I did think of using something like this . . . will see how the T-Cut goes, first.

Hold the G3 in reserve.

Worked quite well on my old Pug 405 bonnet and the Fiero only lasts a short time though and obviously the paint wasn't as bad as on the caddy
