The end (window) wall is now fitted with all it's vertical supports . . . (because the span is so little it won't have any horizontal "noggings").

Note openings for future windows.

Must move those acro's at some point . . . .

Tonights job, simply put, can be summed up in one word - "Noggings".

I'll be adding short horizontal supports along the entire length of the long wall . . . . if that gets done I'll be adding some knee-bracing after that.

Then that'll just leave the short (door) wall to do - which I'm purposely leaving for now to maximise access.

Bit of both.

I know plenty but you always have to learn some stuff as you go along on a project like this.

Felting a roof was fairly alien to me.

Still, its good youre just getting on with it, adding space and value to the house..

Got yet more done last night . . . . completely finished the long wall (added noggings) and was gonna add some bracing but, tbh, it's F*cking solid so would be an utterly pointless task !

I then added a couple of extra pieces of timber in the window end (which will be required to house the window frames).

Then added any timber I could to the "door" side, while keeping the area as clear as possible. (To add any more on that side will require the rear of the Humber moving out of the way first . . )

Tonights job is gonna be research . . . Door/frame sizes and recon for the pending shopping trip for ship-lap.

I took pics last night - but it got too late to upload.

As it sat yesterday morning . . .

Progress yesterday was good . . . got a few jobs on the roof done, tiles and gutter replaced, and the first (lower) half of ship-lap fitted and treated.

The upper half has now been cut and treated and I'm just pausing to allow it to dry for a bit before fitting that, too.

Had a good, solid 3 hours fitting shiplap yesterday (between other things) and got about 95% of the long side all done.

No pics as it was very dark when I got done . . .

Tonights work is minimal as I need to start packing for our holiday !

I'll get some pictures up later.

It's not.... It's fixed to the battons in between each ofthe main supports...

To clarify :

The main frame uprights are 75 x 75 mm, the subframe is 47mm thick, leaving a 28mm recess in which the shiplap sits (between the main uprights).

EDIT - Yes, they span between the uprights, but they've been sealed to prevent any weather getting in.

This design at least makes the structure a little more interesting looking rather than a flat expanse of cladding.

Seems ages since I updated this . . . . (that's what a holiday does to ya').

Got loads done at the weekend - I was pleasantly surprised.

Thanks to Ian for assistance on saturday - sunday I was on my own but made some major advancements.

The "long side" is now 99% finished (just requiring some timber to cover the ends of the felt), the "window end" is finished being clad and sealed, just needed the windows themselves and the "door side" now has all the framing done, cladding cut and treated, ready to be fitted.

EDIT - We also got gravel boards fitted to the "window end" and "door side", too.

So, some piccy's -

Finally a piccy to show the gap between next door's fence and the new "lean to".

Note that the gap actually reduces down to 3mm near the bottom (the fence leans over slightly).

Nowhere near !

There's still the windows, door, the suspended mezz floor, the dual-layer insulation in the walls, the roof insulation, the dry-lining on the walls and ceiling, plastering, artexing, plumbing, electrics, phone, workbench, sink, lighting, stereo and speaker install, internet & P.C install, modifications to existing brick piers (in the original garage) and further "false" walling and insulation, too.

This isn't gonna be some thrown-up shack. This is pimpin'. Hardcore.
