Hi all, I've just got hold of some 18" alloys to replace the 17s on my XJR from ebay, it's a common mod to the 6 cylinder XJR I have to put alloys from a newer V8 XJR on to give a slightly more modern look. They're the same width (255), and just have a 40 section instead of a 45 to retain the same rolling raduis:

They're actually very good, with hardly any lifting of the lacquer, but there is a tiny bit. Picked them up last night, and to be fair to the bloke they're exactly as described. I do have half a mind to have them refurbed if it's possible and not too expensive though before I shell out for new rubber, does anyone have any advice or recommenations?

Have used those guy for repairing damaged alloys. Did a decent job

Pristine Wheels

They repaired a GMC wheel for me that everybody said was unrepairable for £40.
Had the Camaro wheels refurbed there ( power coated ), GM spangle silver on the outside & graphite grey on the inside to hide the brake dust
Due to the difficulty with the two colour finish they were £58 each , normally about £40 a wheel.

Do NOT have them lacquered, no matter how good the finish is the UK roadsalt will eat them
Pristine can power coat a painted finish which looks almost identical

Looking at the wheels you've just bought i'd use them as is for now and refurb them in the spring

They wouldn't touch my Camaro's chrome alloys - even said it was illegal to rechrome alloys due to EU laws...

Brought the guy out to look at them in the car park, pointed out my car and he said "oh right - the corvette?".

*DOH!* Not too impressed...
