Air/Fuel Ratio / Exhaust Gas analysis

Anyone got any kit for analysing exhaust gases to work out if you're running rich/lean?

I'm have a devil of a time with my carb at the moment and thought it's time to get scientific on it, rather than the trial and error I have been doing.

Lots of places sell them, but I don't have the spare cash.

I'll take a look anyway, as if I do have to buy one it might be more cost effective than the alternative that I have been looking at  ($170 + shipping) for a guage that matches my existing ones + all the wires + sensors.

I used it on all my carb cars, cheap, simple & effective

I have a Lambda meter and sensor that I've borrowed for tuning RK's carb when he gets around to firing it up. I need to fix some of the wiring, but if you need it then that will encourage me to sort it out...

That can only be used when the car is stationary, so only really affects idle.  Might still be worth a shot though.

How does that differ to what Titsy has?
Is it for static use only or can it be used on the move?

ours measures the co and hc of the engine  so will tell you if the engine is tired and worn. Its static as its a big machine but very accurate anything that runs off 12v will not be accurate enough to tune a car fully.

It's not really intended to be used on the run. It uses an exaust fitted sensor which if you were stationary you could just shove up the end of the pipe, but n a run I don't think it will be of much use...
