General Banter / Hey !!! how are you all
« on: March 09, 2010, 10:28:56 am »
Thought I'd pop in and say hello to everone.

If you dont remember, I'm craig the guy who had the 87 iroc and also bought Martins GMC off him.

I'm just going to have a browse around the site and catch up on what your all up to.

Sadly I've not got another Yank but dont hold that against me

If you remember I sold the 'maro and bought this

I changed loads but was never happy as the majority of the work had been done by someone else. So I sold that last year and bought this.

The stripped that down straight away and it currently looks like this.

Always wanted a 7/11 build I've done shit loads of work but still have loads to do as you see. If anyone is interested I'll go into details as to what I've done and what I'm planning to do.

Nice to be hear again

General Banter / Who does car transportation
« on: November 12, 2008, 08:07:05 am »
I've sold the car to a guy in Rotterdam and we're trying to work out the best ways to get it there.

We've had quotes from shipping companies that would collect it from my door and drop it to his.

If I had the time I would do it myself and pocket the wedge but I haven't.

So anyone know anyone who does this sort of thing

They would have to pick the car up on a trailer from Plymouth, drive it to Harwich and then get the ferry service to Rotterdam(just outside the city) Where matey would meet you

General Banter / Export help
« on: November 10, 2008, 05:51:43 pm »
I've got someone who is very keen on buying the Iroc but he is from Holland and has asked me for help.

Can any of you answer this question ???

Qoute

Do you know if there's something like an export or temporary registration in the UK? Germany and some other EU countries have those, a 5 or 7 day registration. This I can use to temporarily drive the car (from the boat) and insure it, otherwise It'd be illegal.

thanks

Marck

Genuine L98 / B2L 350 5.7 Chevrolet Camaro Iroc

I’ve been considering selling my Camaro for the last 6 months but have not been able to bring myself to do it but unfortunately, due to other commitments, I now have no other choice.

As mentioned in the title it’s a 1987 Chevrolet Camaro Iroc with the genuine 350 TPI engine, not like many that are falsely advertised. The car is not mint but is a very good example of a genuine Iroc.

It has a very large option list (RPO codes) that boasts the following.

GW6 : AXLE REAR, 3.27 RATIO
G80 : AXLE POSITRACTION, LIMITED SLIP
FE2 : SUSPENSION SYSTEM, RIDE HANDLING
1SC : PACKAGE, OPTION 03

(I can supply a full list of the codes upon request.)

I’ve owned the car for 3 years and in that time have spent a large amount of time and money in getting her to the sort of condition I would be happy with. Obviously I would recommend viewing but I will do my best to give an accurate description of the cars different areas, I would welcome questions if you have any doubts over what I have written.

Exterior

Good all-round condition with only minor scratches and stone chips. The only issue I know of is that the drivers side rear arch had a small amount of bubbling when I brought it so I had a company repair the area, unfortunately they didn’t do an amazing job and there is still a very small amount of rust right at the bottom of the arch where the body kit is. Now is very small and hardly noticeable but its still worth mentioning. There are no other major dents, scratches or rust on the vehicle. The paintwork is good apart from typical fading that you get with the colour red.

The underside is very clean and has been wax oiled to prevent any corrosion, I’ll try and arrange a picture of the underside if possible. All stickers, body trim and badges are in very good condition as is all the glasswork.

Interior

The interior of this car is in superb condition and hardly looks used. The only slight defect is that I had a professional company sew in a patch on the drivers seat bolster to reinforce an area that was showing slight wear. The carpets are near perfect as are the seats, dashboard and trim.

If you have been looking for a Camaro you’d have probably notice that these cars suffer with headliners. This Iroc has a brand new Headliner, sun visors and sail panels that imported from the states last month, at great cost, so the whole of the interior looks great as you can see from the pictures. All electrics work although the rear hatch button is now used for something else, you’ll understand when you read the exhaust section.

The car has a Kenwood head unit that works fine but the speakers are shite and it would be worthwhile replacing them.

Engine

No problems here. The engine runs silky smooth and starts first time every time. If its been sitting for a while sometimes I get a small puff of smoke upon start up but it clears instantly and does not return. On idle the cars revs do sometimes seek very slightly however I had a garage check this out and he reported on problem at all, I have the receipt for this check up.

The engine has had a top head overhaul by Bob Harman performance about 1500 miles ago and I have carried out a few jobs like replacing the distributor, spark plus, HT leads, cap, rotor, air foil, air filters, oil, oil filter ect ect. All work has been taken place over the last 6 months and I have receipts for everything (I’ve probably forgotten loads of work also).

The Engine does not leak any fluid at all. It revs to 5500rpm perfectly and stays at a normal temperature even in heavy traffic; this is the dual fan model.

Transmission

Everything works perfectly due to a new TCI streetfighter 700R4 ( approx 200 miles old) with a 2200 rpm stall Bowtie Overdrives torque converter. It has also got a brand new GM transmission cable and a lager ally transmission sump to promote better cooling.

This is the transmission - http://www.jegs.com/i/TCI/890/371060/10002/-1

The difference is incredible with the new trans and TC. The shifts are firm and instant not like the old slow sloppy change of the original box. Again the transmission does not leak at all.

Exhaust

The WHOLE exhaust system was changed around 300 miles ago with the following.

-Hedman headers with felpro pro gaskets
-Hedman Y-pipe leading to a stainless section that integrates a electric cut-off valve that dumps the exhaust fumes straight from the headers with the flap is opened, this is what the rear hatch switch has been changed to.
-Hooker aero chamber cat back system.

Now I had this system installed so that I could drive around town with the electric flap closed which allows the gases through the cat back system which has a menacing deep growl or you can open the flap up at let all hell break lose, Its amazingly loud and sounds just like a NASCAR.

The only problem is that the headers do have a very slight leak, this tends to go hand in hand with fitting them though.

Wheels and Tyres.

The wheels are the genuine Iroc alloys that the car came with and were refurbished the beginning of this year so they are in very good condition. The tyres all have between ½ and ¼ of their tread left.

Brakes and suspension

All discs and pads are in very good condition and allows the car to stop as well as the factory set up allows, which isn’t amazing to be honest. The car does not pull at all upon braking.

The suspension seems fine although nothing has been changed since I have owned the car. MOT’s have not flagged any problems up though so I think everything is okay.

                                                 -----------------

I hope you can see that I have spent a huge amount of time and money on this car and whilst it’s not perfect, its still a very nice example of a car that’s becoming rarer by the month.

It is a 21 year old car so please don’t come expecting it to be A1. However I have been as honest as possible and If you think I have neglected anything please ask and I will endeavour to find out that information for you.

The maro has developed a mis fire on idle. I dont notice it mising when driving but thats not to say it isn't there.

I'm going to check the obviuos things tonight like plug leads ect but I could do with some suggestions from you guys.

The idle rev's seem low and there is also a slight exhaust leak but Thsi is a definate missfire.

General Banter / TPI mods
« on: June 15, 2008, 07:52:09 pm »
Anyone got the TPI insider tips book ? or know where to get one.

I've got the outside of the camaro as good as i can get it without a full respray so i'm looking at spending some wedge on engine / chassis mods.

Things I've done so far are.

Headers, Cat back, TB coolant bypass, Air foil, 2200 stall TC, TCI streetfighter 700r4

Next I'm thinking

K&N filters , adjustable fuel regulator ( dont know much about this mod ) SLP runners and some sort of intake base, SFC's. not to sure what to do first though

Basically I'm trying to go as far as possible with bolt on mods.

so what do you guys reckon and anyone up for coming in on a purchase from Summit , Jegs or the like ?

General Banter / Selling question.
« on: May 24, 2008, 04:53:11 pm »
I think RK just had a similar question but i'll ask it again.

The guy that has recently won the Astro on ebay is planning on picking it up on thursday and then driving it to Germany. Is there anything special i have to do in regards t the V5 form ??

I've only spoke to his mate who bid on it for him and he seem genuine but i presume cash on collection is the sensible way to deal with payment for this vehicle

General Banter / Could it work /??
« on: May 23, 2008, 07:35:09 pm »
See what you think and pass it on if you agree with it

We are hitting 123.9 a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying 2.00 a ltr. Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea:

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain   day campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't
continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT,whoever
thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

Please read it and join in!

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us  to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take  aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the market place
not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we  consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the  price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not
purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP.

If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!!

Now, don't wimp out at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it  to  at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at  least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the
message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached  over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and
pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it... ..

THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all.(and  not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us  sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt,
all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the  next 8days!!! Acting together we can make a difference . If this makes
sense to you, please pass this message on.

PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE   RANGE

It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your  petrol at Shell, Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Jet etc. i.e.  boycott BP and Esso
