Been running the free Virgin PC Guard on the PC for about 18 months, it did the virus job without any problems
On Thursday it told me that I had to update to the latest version to maintain the virus protection, downloaded & installed it and it totally fooked the computer
I've spent the last three days having to uninstall programs, clean the crap out of the registry and then reload all the programs

If computers were really clever they'd sort all this crap out by themselves and I've lost all my favorites

I ain't got Mac money, this PC was the last of the XP based machines in John Lewis for £199

However it would appear that it was the new Virgin PC guard software that broke it, who's to say that the Mac version of the Virgin software is any better

Shouldn't need to install software in a Mac...it should just work...

Fieldy

I read them, but I take what I read on company sites with a pinch of salt.

I can't find much on other review sites, thinking for £25 I might as well just to upgrade the lappy

EDGE

have you watched the apple presentation about it... it looks pretty cool....

Fieldy

ordered.....

Cheapest bit of software I have ever bought. My macs been good to me, not one issue in 2 years, so I owe it £25 IMO

Is that Snow Leopard -  Looks superb - may have to invest one day - but having two macs in those house - need two licences.

I bought my Macbook White on eBay last year for £300 - best move I EVER made - I have never looked back.  Even got the father-in-law contemplating selling his Dell Inspiron to buy a Macbook
1998 Fiero GT (my toy)
2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 (Hubbys new toy!)

So new P.C for £199 or second hand Mac for £250-£400, basically.

Martyn - you'd be better off picking up a cheapie laptop . . my Dad's just picked one up via Argos online for £249.99 - it's well specced . . . better than my P.C in fact - except on the GFX side of things . . .

Titsy

You could switch to Ubuntu as an operating system... That would cost you nothing...

Incursus

Or just stick with what you have...as you already have it...

yeah, but you can have a new Kia for 5k or a 3 year old jag for 6k.....

Mac stuff is more expensive, but I think that it's worth the money,.... just my opinion of course.... you're all entitled to be wrong obviously.....
